Rigshock Riders and the Tour de Cure

Team Craigslist AKA “Rigshock Riders” fielded 25 cyclists for yesterday’s Tour de Cure ride in Napa Valley, raising over $50,000 toward finding a cure for diabetes.

It’s a cause near and dear to our hearts — 2 of our 25 staff are diabetic, and our longtime PR maven Susan MacTavish Best is the granddaughter of Charles Best, co-discover of insulin.

Here are a couple shots of the craigslist peloton from the rear — reportedly the only vantage available to the other teams participating:

Here’s part of the team relaxing (oops am told this pic is from last year’s ride, pre-jerseys, duh), and Sean Knox, one of our sys admins, who has organized our charitable rides for 2 years running:

Kudos, Congratulations and Thanks to all who participated!

Holy cow. As if Craigslist could do something else to make me think there’s actually hope for Internet business: you guys are friends of the two-wheel machine. Love it.

(To make matters worse, it looks like someone’s wearing a Rapha jersey. Correct?)

What a great event, Craigslist is a very special company.
I attended StartUp Camp San Francisco and watched a presentation by a great company that’s helping people deal with diabetes.
They make it simple to track, monitor and share your blood sugar levels and other key statistics to help you manage your diabetes online.

I’m So happy to hear about the event all the wonderful efforts and funds raised…
As someone from a diabetic family more than 4 family members, it is encouraging to hear about efforts made and to know, our family is not alone in this.

Jay mentions monitoring blood sugar levels, i would only add to also check & monitor blood pressure as well, there seems to be a corelation.

To a healthy & viabrant life,
    Talia*

investigate before you donate.. before funding ANY charity. please visit. MRMCMED.ORG (learn how charities misspend research dollars) and PCRM.ORG, read what the march of dimes spends 30 million dollars a year on. ps, the discovery of insulin is credited to experiments on dogs, but the hard scientific facts actually came from STUDIES OF HUMANS. the same is true of efforts to control diabetes. animal research has NEVER been validated. “work on prevention of polio was LONG DELAYED by an erroneous conception of the nature of the human disease based on MISLEADING experimental models on the disease in monkeys” albert sabin, m.d., during a 1984 house subcommittee.
