These metrics are really interesting as a bellweather of our economy. Would love to see what they are currently. And any others. Will updated info on things like yard sales and car posts be shared?

Maybe I don't want to see it if it indicates worse and worse environment. Cripes, April/May of this year was the "good old days"! :(

Craiglist IS the bomb - I have used it for many years now, and I find it easy, accurate(enough) and will keep on using it. It works although everything has problems they are well controlled mostly.

The increase is mainly because more people are finding out about Craigslist every day.. and it's FREE! I'm sure it's the same surge in every category, not just this one. Believe it or not, I recommend Craigslist to people at least once a week and a 75% have STILL never even heard of it. We ARE in Nebraska, so we might be a little behind, but I woud still rather live here than anywhere else!

No mystery here, folks--Craig's just works better than signs on telephone poles.

And for us Stoopers (Brooklynese for "yard sale addicts")--ITS THE BEST!

There's no need to hold on to things you don't need. Times are getting tough, and it's nice to make a little money. It's also nice to buy things at a lesser price, although some people list things a little higher then get all worked up when offered slightly less. Same goes when you list something at a low price to move quickly and someone sends a really lowball offer. Can't win either way, but oh well.

Or maybe some of us Garage/Yard Sale Folks are choosing NOT to sell our stuff on eBay right now...and instead choosing to support a much more worthy, honest, and egalitarian organization, say, CRAIGSLIST ?

Ain't the market economy grand?

By the way, Thank You for creating Ecuador Craigslist as I'm moving to the Santa Elena peninsula on the south Pacific coast of that country and the timing couldn't be better. When will Ecuador be listed under Countries and Latin America?

Inflation in this country is well over 10 percent with escalating energy prices in turn escalating the cost of growing and transporting food and other commodities. Peaking world extraction rates for oil is going to be a real roller coaster ride.

One hopes the fraction of spam and scam ads in that is going down faster than the curve is going up.
