Door to the Future
Where do you want to go? Who do you want to be? This door could be the first step in making your dreams come true. Imagine walking through this 28 3/4″ x 78″ door as you begin your new life, as the person you’ve always wanted to be…

September 6th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
So. I must be behind that door. And when I walk through it I will then be on this side, the side that opens in. Do I have that right so far? Well, I will admit, it is a clean looking interior, the door is sparse, almost minimalist, with its off-white shading and its tall, slim design. But the be the person that you have always wanted to be mantra, there is something brainwashy about that statement. I think I will continue to be the person I have been and will always be and lurk in the shadows behind that door. Or maybe I will turn on the light and get busy with my current priority rather than jump on board yet another project offering who knows what on the other side of a door leading to what. It would be nice if too perhaps to just push that door open since it is already ajar, and then a little more light might enter to disperse the shadows if the electricity happens to have been shut off, like maybe there is hurricane or a typhoon or, I don’t know, a war going on outside. Anyway, I’m happy with who and what I am just enough to work on fine-tuning that, and I like the shadows.

I’m sorry but your door doesn’t look like it’s ADA complient, how do you expect a handicapped individual to enter.
September 11th, 2008 at 6:47 am
Coincidence or Synchronicity? I was just cleaning my desk off when I came across a note I wrote…probably months ago. It said “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” This is the first time I have visited Craigslist.com. I am here, now, because it was mentioned in an article I was reading on my Frontier/Yahoo homepage. I was curious. And I don’t normally read blogs…so this is probably nearly a first too. what does it mean? what’s the significance? I guess I should walk through that door and find out!
September 11th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
This is my first time reading and responding to a blog…but the door to me could simply mean change.Change in your life..in life you have to be willing to make a change…in order to progress..change to some is “scary” so there for they don’t make the transition to the other side of the door…And in order to change sometimes you have to be willing to take suggestions…the door is not gonna open itself you have to grab the knob twist it…and put forth pressure…so you have to do the foot work “push to become”….
September 12th, 2008 at 4:23 am
i walked thru that door just yesterday. note its sublime blue color. the door led me to the cloud on which i now rest. i do, however, wish to sell
some of the adjacent clouds in my possession, at the five, ten, and twenty five thousand foot levels, slightly used, but perfectly serviceable, to individuals of quality who wish to enlarge their perspective. major credit cards accepted.

There’s always an emphasis on the future! We’re making the past jealous. In all honesty, I’d rather have a door to 9 years ago, I’d never date that douche. Or a door to like, three hours ago-before I ate too many nachos. The future would be much more productive if I did the right thing in the past.

IS THIS THE DOOR THATS NOT SUPPOSED TO HIT ME IN THE *@#% WHENI LEAVE? P.S. ITS OVERPRICED - AND UNDERATED!

DESTINY DOOR
it lies ajar
tempting me
to seek out that
which i can not see
i want to go
i want to believe
whats beyond this door
is meant for me
but there i stand
and there i wait
and like doors before
i hesitate
as i watch the door close
i hear the tumblers lock
i realize
forever more
i will never
see the other side
of this….
destiny door.

You mean I’ve been toiling all this time and all I had to do was walk through this door to realize my dream. I’m an author published with small press, looking for an agent to help me realize my dream of becoming mainstream-published. I know I’m good enough, I just need the chance. My final goal as an author is to see at least one of my books offered in Walmart next to Nora Roberts. I suppose I could sneak one in and leave it there, but I really would prefer to be legit.

I walked through that door and …..

This is a wish full door, maybe only in your mind.. It is up to oneself to go through it or sit still where you are at. I have entered that door and the other side seems like a dream, to good to be true. Sometimes, I do not want to come back to the real here because the real hear is to chaotic. Always fearing of tomorrow’s uncertainty and not realizing that what you have now is all that matters.
Yes, I love going on the other side of the door and imagine myself rich and loving to do what I really want to do!
Maybe one day both worlds will collide and I will be where I want to be.

I love craigslist.org.
This is my favorite place to browse…
Thanks to whomever created it. I will forever be grateful.
October 3rd, 2008 at 10:27 am
I too stand at that metaphoric door.
Do I choose to stay in the comfort of my shadows with its promise of safety and familiarity or do I burst through that door with its promise of growing entities, loud chatter and untold demands. Possible wealth untold or possible uncertainty with more demands and even more uncertainty. A path to choose a decision to make a new life lingers near by a song of should I stay or should I go. Do I embrace the everyday or chase the could it be. Do I enjoy the stability or do I trade for the excitement of the instability of change. Question that will ever be close at hand. Good luck my friend in your journey, journey through your door or continuing on in your shadows of comfort.

i’ve got a door. but it has a little note taped to it saying i’m not allowed to open it until there is an update of ‘best of craigslist’. if you would be so kind to not only allow me to finally open my door but also brighten my hour/day/week with a new round of ‘bests,’ i think i might just love you forever and ever.
October 8th, 2008 at 9:11 am
Maybe we should just stop always looking for better and better and be thankful of what we have and do right by what we have and not force others to want what we have.
October 9th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
If the door was GREEN,I’d see what was be hind it in a heartbeat
October 11th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
THE FUNNY THING ABOUT DOORS ARE… YOU HAVE SO MANY AROUND YOU EVERY DAY… BUT YOU ONLY WALK THROUGH THE ONES THAT ARE OPEN OR “AJAR”….. BUT THAT ONLY ALLOWS YOU TO GO THROUGH THE SAME DOORS THAT EVERYONE ELSE ENTERS. WHICH GETS YOU WHAT EVERYONE ELSE GETS. ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT AND WHAT DOOR YOU HAVE TO GO THOUGH AND YOU TRULY WANT WHAT IS ON THE OTHER SIDE IS WHEN YOU GO KICK THAT DOOR IN!!!! ONLY THE STUPID AND SEVERLY LUCKY WALK THROUGH A DOOR THAT IS NOT A TRAP. BUT IF YOU KICK IT IN, THEY WERE NEVER EXPECTING YOU SO THERE IS NO TRAPS. YOU WANT IT……. GO GET IT AND DONT FORGET IT!!
October 11th, 2008 at 10:47 pm

October 12th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Well, life is all about possibilities, right?
It’s a minimalist looking door, but doesn’t look menacing, I’d have to consider it, wouldn’t you?

I see that the door is still firmly attached to its current door jamb. Does this mean that there is some sort of sweat equity involved in un-jamming it? I hate sweat equity. It’s not that I’m lazy or anything, it’s just that my back is on the fritz and you didn’t mention how heavy the door is, or if it is solid or hollow. I can understand how you wanted to focus on the life changing aspect of the door and all but would it have hurt you to add how much it weighs in your ad? By the way, do you have any home owners insurance if my back goes out in the process of hauling this rather large item away? It won’t be a deal breaker if you don’t, I’m just asking.
Now, I’m not a very handy, do-it-yourself type of person but even I can see that some kind of tool is going to be required to dislodge this gateway to happiness. Will this tool have to be magical as well? If so, if I were to purchase said door, will I have to purchase this supernatural tool from you too? Speaking of tools, I noticed that you never mentioned the price of the door in your ad. This isn’t one of those, “if you have to ask, you can’t afford it” type of things, is it? Or, that the door is “free” but the magical door dislodging tool thingy costs 500 million dollars or something equally outrageous? If that’s the case, that would be so douche baggy of you to post on craigslist and get poor people’s hopes up like that. And, don’t even THINK about asking for my soul. My job sucked that out of me a long time ago but that’s another story.
To be totally honest with you, I’m really not interested in your Door to the Future. It asks too many existential and philosophical questions. “Where do you want to go?” “Who do you want to be?” Philosophers have been seeking those answers for centuries, so how the heck would I know? If I knew the answers to those questions I wouldn’t be sitting here responding to a craigslist ad about a Door to the Future, now would I? However, if you ever come across an Answering Machine to the Future that answers all or most of life’s burning questions, give me a call. Just don’t forget to mention how much the answering machine weighs, mmkay?
October 19th, 2008 at 9:01 am
If that door is in NEW JERSEY you would have to PAY A TOLL before you enter….LOL
October 19th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
I’m willing to go to the other side. So tell us how to go there!
October 21st, 2008 at 8:42 pm
I love some of the comments on here.. some of you ladies and gents are suprisingly abstract and creative, I’m actually quite impressed. However something that seems to somehow be missed here is that the individual who posted this is refering to a specific door. Notice the use of the word “this” in describing the door, as well the dimensions in its description to signify that it is not any old door but a special magical door. So lets summerize what I gathered from this little “gem” that individual left us to stew over.
This is a special door that can grant all your wishes… its makes you everything you want to be, takes you everywhere you want to go, and oh wait! we’re not done! all of this comes complete with fullfillment of ALL YOUR DREAMS! Wow, that’s amazing but wait…where is this door? The person who posted this little “treasure” decided to omit the part about how we can actually find the f***in door and follow through with any of this.
The person who posted this obviously hates all of us, the post itself screams you could do it if only you possessed what I do! The same way rich people throw it in your face that they are successfull because they had the opportunity to dump millions (or billions) of dollars of daddy’s money into a failing business that they own, for which you will never have the opportunity to do.
I bet some of you even took the time to think about what you would want when you walked through the door only to realize that those things will never come true and your life will always be less than what you want it to be. Yeah, the writer of this did that on porpuse knowing a small part of you would die afterwards. I would imagine this individual is a sick and twisted person, probably a serial killer or child molester….. well I guarantee they at least cheat on their taxes.
If I ever find that door my first wish is going to be to beat the crap out of the guy who wrote this. Thanks once again for putting into perspective how great our lives will never be, no really THANKS!
October 31st, 2008 at 5:36 pm
It is scary to think there are so many people with nothing better to do than to comment on a door. I guess I’m not alone after all. Please turn off your computer and get a life! I will….really i mean it…….well maybe not right now.
November 4th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
I would only walk through this door if Billy Mayes instructed me to do so buy yelling through my television.
November 5th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Let us hope this door opens up much better future ……..

ANY EMPLOYMENT BEYOND THE DOOR OTHER THAN MLM’S,VIRAL ADVERTISING AND SCAMS!! I NEED A REAL JOB!!
November 7th, 2008 at 10:11 am
Has anyone ever seen doors being used as art work? In commercial office space or in high end design work. I bought an old door once at a garage sale, that I had planned on painting and using as art work somewhere around my home. My husband got tired of it sitting in my backyard and took it to the dump. I still daydream about painting that door bright colors, something weird and unexpected. This can’t be a unique idea. I’ve searched doors as art on search engines before and haven’t found any real artwork using doors. I keep revisiting this idea. I’ve mentioned it to my husband and you won’t believe the looks I get. Strange….. Why the obsession with a door? I don’t know. I’ve never visited this portion of the craigslist site, but what do I find. Inspiration in the form of a door.
November 30th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
True, It looks like I have all ready walked through the door to the other side. (looks like Im inside someones storage unit) And I don’t see any happiness in there either.
Same old story, always looking for the answer, something different this time. When in fact there is nothing different behind that door either. I am spending my whole life searching and really need to just enjoy today, this moment or go create the happiness in something I like to do. Because no one is going to do that for me except for me….
Just my thoughts for the day.
December 4th, 2008 at 4:19 am
They should have used a photo of a more attractive door. That one looks like an entry to a storage unit.
December 4th, 2008 at 7:21 am
I realized we have the opportunity to walk through that wonderful, yet mysterious door everyday. Some days I walk through and feel as though I’ve made one of the best decisions of my life. then there are those days when I feel I should have left it closed and turned my back towards the door and never look at the door again. But guess what? There’s something inside of me that keeps me wondering, that keeps wanting to take that chance.
I find myself facing the door again, and willing, ready, and able to walk through again. See I will walk through that door every chance I get until I get it right, I won’t give up!! I won’t give in!! I have to keep reminding myself when I walk through don’t look BACK!!
LIVE YOUR DREAM!!

Jesus’ likening himself to such a door harmonizes with the fact that through him, by virtue of his ransom sacrifice, sheeplike persons can approach God, be saved, and gain life.—Joh 14:6.
December 12th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Door’s too short, besides; been there done that.
Why bother repeating…
December 13th, 2008 at 1:55 am
So…..When this door shuts, is there going to be an opened window???
(((((When God closes a door He opens a window)))))
Then what???
Close the window and open the door????
This could be tiring….I say “Walk away….Far, FAR away…”
December 25th, 2008 at 10:21 am
When one door closes, another opens. Always.
December 26th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
You can walk thru ,stare or purchase that door. To walk through the door it means it is not yours .You will be coming back. To stare ,you are not ready or willing to do what people think is impossible. While not using your own self belief. So purchase that door to do what ever you believe you would like to do with it.When we walk through it is the reality of what we think, want and give. We should not shut out what we have learned from the past .Because what the past has given us is our maturity and strength from our lives. Our family ,friends and a strong sense to continue as intelligent, ambitious and forth rite people.Wanting and knowing life has meaning. We walk through many doors every minute of everyday learning how to grow. I would purchase and then walk thru that special door because it is mine. And would never close it .I dont want to close what has made me the person I am today and will be tomarrow. There are so many doors left to open. And I would not be afraid to move forward through hundreds or thousands. That door looks great.I believe I can see thru it. The door of Faith. It is mine . I can do what I want with it .Does anyone want to come along ?………….

Imagine a door, an ordinary door.
What lies beyond the door?
Is there a floor?
Do you like green eggs and ham?
As did Sam I am!
Or could it be a scam?
A wham bam thankya mamn!
A big burly unshaved man, with a patch on one eye, and an axe in his hand!
Telemarketers busy on the phone!
Or have you entered the TWILIGHT ZONE!!
January 9th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Oh that door…
Ever wonder what’s behind any door u open when going thru your house?
Pople always think we open a door to our future. well what about the door that closes all the bad things we wish we could forget in the past…I believe a door is just that a door..If we choose to look at a door the way most of u have discribed then ok but it still is just a door. Sometimes open to good and supprising things and sometimes a bad guy waiting on the other side. We all hope and want the best behind every door we open and hopefully that’s what we will always find. I say open the door and mabe, just mabe, we could look at the only thing we have for sure which is history, knowing we could either learn from it or drawn in it. The future in something we could only dream and plan for but the past is something we will remember, live and hopefully, learn from forever.
January 12th, 2009 at 10:21 pm
Sometimes a closed door is just an open door telling you to go in another direction!
January 14th, 2009 at 2:41 am
Maybe we should just stop always looking for better and better and be thankful of what we have and do right by what we have and not force others to want what we have.
January 22nd, 2009 at 5:41 am
Is there a handle on the other side?
If I opened the door I would be likely to enter
but thinking someone else is coaxing me in….
causes great hesitation.
January 23rd, 2009 at 6:12 pm
To me I see this door made of steel along with it’s steel siding must mean shutting this door so every one on the other side of the door. Will feel and be safe and warm and then be able to live there dreams knowing there is only one way to go and that is forward to believe in there dreams knowing that there is only one way to go and not back out this door for the door will protect them while they are living there dream’s and just knowing they will be ok…. and for me I feel I help make others go to be there dreams. And if just if they one day will help others like me to see that a mind like mine is a terrible thing to waste.
January 23rd, 2009 at 9:12 pm
Maybe we should live our lives as if the door is always open to endless possibilites instead of fear of what lies behind it.
February 3rd, 2009 at 5:49 pm
That door is the front door to my house. If I stay inside I am comfortable and protected and can do whatever I like; but, if I go through that door I can go many places and will never exactly know what I will find. If I head off to school I will see my friends and hopefully learn something for a better future. If I head off to work I will make money to feed myself and keep that front door to home where it is at. I can go through that door to go out for a night on the town: movies, clubing, dinner and return to it with a fond memory. Whenever I pass through that door, it helps to know where I am headed even if I might get side tracked on the way there. Gosh, like that door!
February 5th, 2009 at 6:07 am
How can you see all of your dreams come true? Did anyone notice it’s dark on the other side of this door. Maybe walking through this door is like walking back to the beginning of creation. When you get to the other side god will say let there be light, and there will be light. Then we can start over and have all of our dreams come true
February 6th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
Frankly, I am sick of going through doors. With a streak of unlucky luck I have developed a fear of looking in. I have lost command, my entrance is shot. I guess I need a formal invite and someone to open the door for me.
February 13th, 2009 at 11:41 pm
what if your allready there???
February 14th, 2009 at 8:55 am
May you realize you are where God wants you to be, listen and learn from it. Go through that door when you are ready to make tomorrow better for everyone, not just yourself.
February 16th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
i think behind the door you will find your dreams , its dark and that would put you to sleep…..hence……you can become any one you want in your dreams….does that make sense????…well its a good laugh anyway….xo
February 19th, 2009 at 7:28 pm
It is amazing, the thought process that some people who have blogged here. I see some of them are very dark people, those who probably slash all the ads here on Craigslist so other cannot succeed. Then there are those who put it out there for all to see; we all should see all that is around us making everyday a new day. We all have lost a great deal since 9-11 most of our lives have been turned 180 degrees but we cannot stop trying to achive our goals, we are not too old - to stubborn maybe or lazy but never give up.
Be positive in life and life hands you oppertunities. Be negative and nothing comes your way except grief. We don’t need anymore of that.
February 20th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
As I looked at the door, it occured to me that it was for a left handed person. Don’t right handed people get a door to the future?
Or for that mnatter handless people.
The offer is leaving out too many people.
I don’t want to go to a left handed future.
If I go to a future I want everyone included.
And besides, I think the future is over rated.
February 21st, 2009 at 11:39 pm
This sad door looks like is attached to a foreclosed home.
Leave it. Lock it. Don’t forget your pets.
The post sounds like a pitch from a greedy bank to sell you this place “as-is” at double it’s value.
No smoke. No mirrors. No magic.
The only real opportunity presented is the opportunity to Just Say No!
February 23rd, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Penny, there is nothing to fear but fear itself! Never be afraid to search for ‘you’ It is not ‘bad luck’ that hinders your command in the presence of life, it is ‘fear’ that stiffens you and makes you want to close you eyes to avoid seeing how much more life you have to live before you (we) get it right. Be gentle with yourself girlie and understand that we are a work in the making. Be what you want to be and the hell with those who want you to be who or what they want you to be. Shoot, I am still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up and I am not that you (not that old either) But I’ll be damned if I stop trying to figure out who I am - you shouldn’t either. So what you’ve been through lifes ringer. Keep trying babe because not walking through that door or trying to figure who you are or what you want to be is the same is giving up on life. I’m you haven’t given up.
February 23rd, 2009 at 2:10 pm
the door is slamed in fase every time I get it open it seams to take all I have to stand there trying to keep it open. it’s getting “tough” and will I stay on this side of the door becouse on this side I’m good, so the door means to me some times it ok to stay on this side becouse there’s no telling what kind of trouble is waiting for you on the other side.
February 23rd, 2009 at 5:06 pm
Aloha from Maui,
Well you actually could be on the inside of the door already and that door actually goes outside?…So its all about a POV…Is the cup half full or half empty….I’m one to say it has 4oz of water inside it…so choice wisely as
we all pick our path to death by the choices we make…good and bad.
Personally my life has changed at 55 when I discovered every cell in my body can make its very own Anti-oxidant.
YouTube glutathione and watch Dr. Hymen talk about it…then checkout my site by walking thru that door to a beter life..via Health is your greatest Wealth.

Threshold. Everywhere a subject is of interest I find this confluence of streams, pieces of a unexpected puzzle contiguous in thoughts and sensations. The choice to go through, continue, begins at the threshold. Commitment is passing through that door. What you find is what you can expect.
March 2nd, 2009 at 5:37 pm
Anything is possible. You just have to know it, feel it and breath it. There is no door to the future, there are thousands. Even better, create your own… ‘Yes You Can’
March 4th, 2009 at 9:58 am
This door to me means finally closing the chapter on some bad shit that has occured in my life and beginning to open the door on new productive adventures.
March 5th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
I actually can vision what on the other side of that door, but I need help with my, if I can say so myself, brilliant idea. As everybody knows because they constantly remind us of how bad it is out here. I’d love to about my brilliant idea with those of you that are out there that would like to see what is on the other side of that door. That is share what I see on the other side of that door. I’d like to start a movement that consist of all of us that has found ourselves on the other side of corporate america’s door from no faught of our own. But I need help and I have a great idea. I picked up a movie called the “Secret”, the first time I saw it I said, thats it, the problem has always been that my thoughts create my future, and since my thinking was usually negative, I was attracting just that.
