As we’ve seen during down economies in the past, growth in usage of the “barter” section of craigslist is accelerating, up more than 100% in the last year alone:

Very glad to see this happening. I am seeing more and more of the economy turn to this as it is a way for us to get things we need and get rid of things we dont.

I was wondering if you would consider adding a “Bartering” category
    under “JOBS” section also?

Under the ” JOBS” section, it would be so much easier to find someone who has a specific skill you are looking for and perhaps don’t have money to pay for, but could barter for. Let’s say your job skill is medical transcription and you need a computer monitor, and would be willing to barter your work skill for the monitor.

    Just a thought! Thanks.

    “Blue Collar Stimulus Package”

    Mr. President,

We the people propose the following stimulus package.

    Total Cost: $40 Million Dollars

Give each working person over 50 years of age one million dollars with the following stipulations.
Note: All must be done within 90 days.

    1) They MUST retire – This will create 40 million new jobs.
    2) They MUST buy a new American car – This will save the auto industry.
    3) They MUST buy or pay off existing home – The will save the housing industry.

    Problem solved

My kids, my friends, and I set up a plant swap. I received plant cuttings to put in my garden and in return I gave cuttings. By doing this I don’t have to go out and spend money buying new plants. And, everyone involved benefits by growing plants in their garden that they would have had to otherwise buy.

I love the idea of the plant swap. My friends and I used to have an annual “Clothing Exchange” where we brought stuff we didn’t want anymore & swapped clothes. It was always great fun! Shoes & purses too!
