Jessica Alba, CL enthusiast
The actress as quoted in a recent interview:
I’ve bought 70 percent of my house off Craigslist! I’ve found so many things: couches, tables, lamps. I love the idea of recycling furniture and there being a history there.

That’s awesome! On another note, does CL have a section for American Made Products only?? If not, would be a great addition to the site.

Ha ha …
People like her will have to face the journalists and other fans. May be this form of shopping is helping them a bit.

Please send me your furnishings when you recycle again. I stage the homes that I sell in Southern California.

I’ll have to agree that CL is great. I have found houses to live in on CL, jobs, nice designer furniture, as well as been able to get rid of things I no longer want or need. It’s a great place to buy furniture (nice quality too, if you know what to look for) when you don’t have a lot of money to spend…..

Jessica Alba is smart because when you shop on craig’s list, or yard sales if your not famouse you get to put together your own style and it’s a style thats hard to duplacate. One thing i love is mismached wooden chairs around a nice old wooden table. And i love the hunt for my perfect thing and thats much more fun than running into a store and buying somthing just because it fits, or it matches. so keep on posting so we can kep on shooping.

Good for her! There are many conscientious people in Hollywood. Maybe she’s sick of giving all her money to China by buying new…

I’d rather buy a $1000 sofa from craigslist for $300 than a brand new $300 sofa from a store. The $300 new sofa will fall apart in a year but I can always resell the craigslist sofa when I want to change my decor.
I hope Jessica also lists her unwanted items on craigslist because you have to work it both ways.
Craigslist rocks!

Jessica Alba admitted that her favorite shopping destination isn’t located among the trendy boutiques of Los Angeles…

is there a way to search the WHOLE territory of the US at once? Not just one city but all the cities of the US for something? I am looking for one specific thing. It is difficult to go to EVERY city. Can you help me?

Craigslist is driving me crazy. I love finding great deals, but I have almost driven1-2 away to pick up items that were a confirmed sale by the owner, and at the VERY last minute…I finally get ahold of them and they say..SOLD. If you are going to tell someone the items is theirs, please be respectful! or at least let them know if the items was sold AHEAD OF TIME!!

Awesome, People do not realize how much money they save by shopping for used items. I just bought a brand new still in the box food processor for $5.00 because the person bought it and received another as a present. she made $5.00 and I got a new processor. CL is great!

I love Craigslist so much that I’ve started my own blog about it! I’ve made a little game for myself and have challenged myself to try to buy or sell something on craigslist each week for 52 weeks! I have to sell something in each of the categories too! Then I blog about the sale. Sometimes it’s a cool story, sometimes it’s a unique experience. The blog is http://www.52weekswithcraig.blogspot.com

I love CL to but they really need to put a flag button for “Over Priced” or “Cheaper in the store new” button to flag these people who put crap on here for more than it costs in the store. But for the most part Craig List Rules !!!!!

I too have furnished almost my entire house off CraigsList. It happened this way:
I was moving out of a place I had lived in for about 22 years. It had gotten awful, but the move was not voluntary. Until I found the place where I live now. It’s wonderful. But the old furniture, with the exception of my bed, was rotten. I only brought over the old sofa temporarily because I had nothing else to sit on, but the day after I moved (May 1, 2009) i began search CL for stuff.
The first thing I found was a dining room table, oval, in cherry, with Queen Anne legs. It seated four, six, or eight depending on the chairs and inserts. The guy wanted $650 for it. I hemmed and hawed, and walked away from it. Two weeks later I saw the same ad for $500. This time I took it. It is so gorgeous! Then I found a matching sofa and loveseat that an elderly couple had from a dozen years before. It was one of those that are in formal living rooms that are rarely used. For $125, he delivered it too. Then it was lamps, a free queen bed for the guest room, bedroom nightstands and dresser, bookcases, another gorgeous sofa, a spectacular antique coffee table, end tables, a wonderful patio table and chairs, another small table & chairs perfect for a twosome, and a great upholstered chair (the latter three on the covered patio), and more.
I get so many compliments on what I have done. And I tell people all it takes is CL, a good sense of style, the patience and willingness to wait for the “right” items, and a couple of good male friends who will help move stuff. I just love CL!

Love CL. I buy and sell constantly and make some decent spending money. Gives me cash to eat out once in a while and to add to my savings account. My favorite purchases so far have been my like brand new pink beach cruiser and my vintage from the 50’s Roy Rogers’ rocking horse. Oh, and also, just got a like new piano keyboard for $15 - worth $50. The bargains are out there and sometimes I feel bad paying so little for the items. Even if the item is really cheap, I always offer a lower price - 99% of the time people say yes. Now, I want to start selling on E-bay. Happy shopping, Penny.

I love CR ,I think is a lot better than E-Bay ! Compliments to the creator !!

Enjoy Rush while you can. Between the extra 150 lbs he’s carrying around and the drinking and drug use, I give him less than five years.

Craigs list is fantastic. We shoudl think more about re-using and recycling. It is excellnt that a high profile star is promoting this
